Here’s a guide to some of the best markets in Pretoria:
BusStop 7 market
The Busstop 7 market in Pretoria East is an open-air market located at Mooikloof and is open on Saturdays (8 am to 4 pm) and Sundays (9 am to 3 pm). There are excellent stalls and plenty of food vendors. There is a seating area with live entertainment. You can take your four-legged friends with you to enjoy the day. The entrance fee is R25 per person (2023), and they only take card payments.
There are also plenty of games for the kids to play.

Castle Gate Night Market
The Castle Gate Night Market is hosted at the Castle Gate Shopping Centre’s parking lot. The shopping centre is located in Waterkloof Ridge and the entrance to the market is free. There are some amazing food stalls and also many craft stalls. This market is hosted every second-last Friday of the month. Check out the Facebook page for specific dates. They usually open at 4 pm and close at 10 pm.

Deep Roots Market
The Deep Roots Night Market has been a favourite of mine for a long time, but after the whole Covid pandemic, they closed the night market. Luckily, in 2022, they’ve decided to bring this popular market back.
Here you can enjoy some gourmet food, craft beer, and live music. You can find this market on the first Friday of every month at the CBC Old Boys Memorial Club. Entrance is R30 per person (2023). Take a blanket with you and grab a spot on the lawn while enjoying the company of friends and family, with some live music in the background.
📍Location: Groenkloof
Irene Village Market
The Irene Village Market is an arts and crafts market located at the Big Red Barn. This dog-friendly market is the perfect start to the day, and you can afterwards enjoy a nice walk or hike, go painting at Clay Café, or the kids can go acro-branching. This market happens every first and last Saturday of every month from 8 am to 2:30 pm.

Hazel Food Market
Hazel Food Market has so many delicious foods to choose from, and to this day, I still dream about this massive brownie that I bought at this market. This market takes place every Saturday from 8 am to 2 pm and is located at the PHSOB Club in Lynnwood. Not only are there some great food stalls but also some arts and crafts stalls as well.
