Language: South Africa has 11 official languages, but you’ll mostly hear South Africans speak English, Afrikaans and Xhosa.
Currency: The currency in South Africa is called Rand (R)
Credit Cards and ATMS: Being one of the major cities in South Africa, most restaurants and shops have card facilities. ATMs are also available at most gas stations and shopping malls.
Water: Due to water scarcity, Cape Town implemented water-saving measures. Visitors are encouraged to conserve water during their stay. Also, avoid drinking tap water, rather opt for store-bought water.

When to visit Cape Town?
It all depends on what you want to do on your trip. Do you want to spend the days at the beach while soaking up the sunny South African sun, or do you want to explore the snowy mountains?
Summer time is from December to February and this is also peak season. The days are long and sunny and are best for a beachy holiday.
Winter is from June to August and tends to be rainy and cold. But if you want to see snowy mountains, take a trip inland for a winter wonderland.
If you want to avoid the crowds then Spring time is the best time to visit Cape Town. This is from September to November. Accommodation and flights are also much cheaper during this season.

Getting around
Cape Town International Airport (CPT) is the primary gateway to the city, serving both domestic and international flights.
Depending mainly on your preference, there are three main options of transportation to choose from to reach the city centre:
Rent a car: There is so much to do in Cape Town and so many places to see that’s pretty spread out. If you plan on doing a lot of exploring (especially different regions), I would highly recommend you rent a car.
Uber: If you are not comfortable with driving around yourself, then Uber is a great option. However, it can get a bit pricey.
My CitiBus: You can also use public transportation – My Citi buses. Buy a transport code at one of the stations and then you can just top it up as you go. Download the CitiBus app to see the timetables and route planners.
Is it safe to travel Cape Town?
Yes, there is a lot of crime in South Africa; however, living here my whole life, I’ve never felt unsafe. But I have also learned to be vigilant wherever I go.
So… to answer your question: Yes it is safe, however you have to be alert. Exercise caution, especially in tourist areas and avoid walking alone at night. Keep valuables secure and be aware of your surroundings.

BLOUBERGSTRAND
This area offers stunning views of Table Mountain across the bay, making it a favourite among photographers and nature enthusiasts. This laid-back neighbourhood is known for its pristine beaches, perfect for kiteboarding and windsurfing. In my opinion, this beach has the best sunsets!
SEA POINT
Situated between the Atlantic Ocean and Signal Hill, Sea Point is a bustling coastal suburb known for its vibrant atmosphere and scenic promenade. Visitors enjoy leisurely strolls along the seaside, explore the bustling Sea Point Main Road with its shops and restaurants, or relax in one of the many parks dotted throughout the area.
GREEN POINT
Adjacent to the V&A Waterfront, Green Point is a trendy neighbourhood known for its cosmopolitan vibe and array of entertainment options. Home to the iconic Green Point Park and the Cape Town Stadium, this area offers plenty of outdoor activities and cultural attractions.
CAMPS BAY
Renowned for its glamorous beachfront setting and upscale atmosphere. Camps Bay is one of Cape Town’s most sought-after neighbourhoods. Framed by the Twelve Apostles mountain range, this area boasts pristine beaches, trendy cafes, and chic cocktail bars.
V&A WATERFRONT
As one of Cape Town’s premier tourist destinations, the V&A Waterfront combines world-class shopping, dining, and entertainment with stunning views of the harbour and Table Mountain.
