Day 1: Phuket

First Day

After a very long flight from South Africa, we finally made it to Phuket. We arrived quite late and have arranged pickup from our hotel. Since we were only staying here for 1 night before we made our way to Krabi the next morning, we decided to stay at the Sunset Beach Resort.

Bangla Road was close to the resort, so we decided to check out the party scene. The whole road gets closed down at night and the street lights up with bright neon lights and loud music.

Day 2 - 4: Ao Nang, Krabi

Second Day

On day 2 we got up early, grabbed breakfast at our resort and then made our way to the Rassada Harbour to take a  ferry to Ao Nang Krabi. The first ferry leaves at 9 am and you have to be there at 8 am if you want to get a ticket. There is also an option to go with a speed boat, but this will be a bit more expensive.

We stayed at Centara Grand Beach Resort and Villas in Krabi, which is a secluded resort. Once we arrived at the pier in Krabi, the resort’s speedboat waited for us to take us to the resort. Since this resort is secluded, it is only accessible via a speedboat or the monkey trail. They have a speedboat that transports guests every hour. There are two restaurants available at the resort and breakfast is included in your stay.

We spent the rest of the day next to the pool, soaking up the sun.

Third Day

The Tiger Cave Temple was next on our list and we climbed the very steep stairs to the top. This was definitely my highlight of Krabi. Once at the top, you’ll be met with spectacular views of the surrounding limestone mountains and Krabi town in the far distance.

We grabbed an iced drink at the café located next to the temple after the tiring climb.

Afterwards, we made our way back to the main centre of Ao Nang grabbed lunch at Nana Restaurant and explored the night market afterwards. Make sure you grab some of the rolled ice cream!

Fourth Day

It was time to explore the famous Railay beach. Just after we arrived there was a storm brewing, so we grabbed lunch at Joy Pizza and waited for the storm to pass.

We explored the caves on the island and took a swim at the beach.

Day 5-7 Koh Phi Phi Island

Fifth Day

Day 5 we made our way to the pier bright and early and took the ferry to our next destination – Koh Phi Phi. I was most excited about this island and it did not disappoint! This was by far my favourite island on the trip.

We stayed at Phi Phi Holiday Inn, which is located on the opposite side of the attractions and this is only accessible by boat.

The resort does not have its own transport service, so you’ll have to negotiate with a local to transport you to the hotel. Luckily there are many of these available at the pier.

First on our agenda was a snorkelling session at the resort, so we headed for the water. We ended our day at the Sunset Bar, where you’ll find the infinity pool. Let me be honest, this pool was the main reason why we chose this resort!

Sixth Day

Day 6 we organised a private boat to take us to the surrounding islands and explored the Phi Phi islands.  Pileh Lagoon was my favourite part of our private tour. We ended the day with a Thai massage at the resort’s spa. You cannot leave Thailand without a Thai massage!

Seventh Day

On our last day at Koh Phi Phi, we decided to explore the main island. We took a tailboat and made our way to the pier. Here we made our way to the Phi Phi viewpoint and explored all the small shops on the island.

Day 8 - 10: Phuket

Eighth Day

We made our way back to the pier in Koh Phi Phi and took the ferry to Phuket. Once we got to Phuket we grabbed a taxi that took us to our resort in Kata beach. We stayed at Katathani, and since check-in was only at 2 pm, we dropped our bags off at the resort and made our way to Siam Smile to grab lunch. After check-in, we explored the area on foot.

Nineth Day

Day 9 we started with breakfast which was included in our stay. We took a tuk-tuk to visit the Big Buddha. Afterwards, we hit the markets at Kata and enjoyed a day of shopping.

Tenth Day

On the last day, we just relaxed at the beach in front of the resort and headed to the airport in the afternoon to catch our flight back to South Africa.
