Nestled in the Andaman Sea you’ll find an enchanting gem of Thailand – the captivating Koh Phi Phi. This island has to be one of my favourite islands to visit in Thailand. And let me just say this – Koh Phi Phi did not disappoint!

The best things to do at Koh Phi Phi
Here is a guide to some of the best things to do on this breathtaking island:
Explore Maya Bay
Maya Bay is mostly famous for its appearance in the movie ‘The Beach” and is a must-visit when you are in the area. Go early in the morning to beat the crowds and enjoy the stunning scenery.
Go island hopping
Take a boat tour around the Phi Phi islands. The most famous way to explore the area is by hiring a private long-tail boat. This is a bit more expensive, but this way you can enjoy these areas at your own pace and are not bound to a group.
Islands to visit are Bamboo Island, Monkey Beach and Mosquito Island. These areas are great for snorkeling, swimming, and discovering hidden coves.
Tip: If you prefer to go with a group of people, I suggest you make a booking in advance. However, no booking is needed for a long-tail boat, as they are everywhere to be seen. You just walk up to them and explain to them your plans for the day and they’ll give you a price.
Visit Pileh Lagoon
Cruise through the stunning emerald waters of Phi Phi Leh Lagoon, surrounded by towering limestone cliffs. It’s a picture-perfect spot for swimming and relaxation. And I have to say, of all the islands, Pileh Lagoon was my all-time favourite place to visit with the perfect turquoise water.
Walk to the Phi Phi Viewpoints
Hike up to the viewpoints for breathtaking panoramic vistas of the island. The viewpoint at Phi Phi Viewpoints 1, 2 and 3 offers incredible sights of the twin bays and the surrounding islands.
The viewpoint has an elevation of 186m and is an easy, brisk 20 to 30-minute walk There is also a small restaurant at the top where you can enjoy a drink and a light lunch whilst enjoying the view.
Many signs point to the viewpoint, and this viewpoint is also the gathering point in case there is a tsunami, so you can also follow the tsunami evacuation boards to get to the top.
We did pay an entrance fee of 30 Baht back in 2019.
Enjoy the nightlife
Experience the vibrant nightlife at Tonsai Village. From beach bars to fire shows, there’s no shortage of entertainment options here.
Enjoy the beach
Don’t miss out on simply unwinding on the stunning beaches. Whether it’s Long Beach, Loh Dalum Bay, or Ton Sai Bay, each offers its own unique charm.
So relax in the sun, take a swim in the transparent aqua water or take a nice walk along the golden sand beaches.
The sunsets on this island are also next level, so make sure you catch one!
Go snorkeling
The Phi Phi Islands boast some great seawater life. You can either go snorkeling at the surrounding islands or ask your resort for some information about snorkeling.
The resort we stayed at had a set time every day they took you out into the water to go snorkeling.
Go shopping
Wander through the streets of the Tonsai Village, which is the perfect spot for souvenirs.
I did find this island more expensive compared to Phuket and Krabi – just something to keep in mind.
Where to stay on the Phi Phi Island?
We stayed in Koh Phi Phi for 3 nights and this was more than enough time to explore the island and see all the places we wanted to see.
We stayed at Phi Phi Holiday Inn/ Resort and we spent most of our time at the Sunset Bar Infinity Pool which was just amazing during sunset. It’s all in the name!
Koh Phi Phi is a destination that caters to all sorts of travelers, whether you’re an adventure seeker, a beach bum, or a nature enthusiast. It’s a place where you can create unforgettable memories amidst stunning natural beauty.
