When to visit Durban?

Durban enjoys a subtropical climate, making it a year-round destination. However, the best time to visit is from April to September when the weather is warm and dry.

December months are also the busiest time when everyone flocks to the beach to escape the humidity.

Getting to Durban

By Air:

Durban’s King Shaka International Airport is the main gateway for international and domestic flights. The airport is approximately 35 kilometres north of the city centre, and there are plenty of transportation options, including car rentals, uber or airport shuttle services.

By Car:

If you are driving from other parts of South Africa, the N3 highway connects Johannesburg to Durban, making for a scenic road trip. From Cape Town, it’s a longer drive, but the N2 highway offers beautiful coastal views.

Getting Around

While public transport is available, renting a car offers more flexibility for exploring the region.

If you are not comfortable driving around yourself, then Uber is another great option; however, it can get a bit pricey.

Is it safe to travel Durban?

Like any major city, stay vigilant, especially at night. Stick to well-lit and populated areas.

I grew up in South Africa and have never felt unsafe, just make sure you always exercise caution.
