Hi, I am Mariska. Welcome to my blog!
My husband (Dean) and I are South Africans living on the sunny Gold Coast of Australia. We love to explore the world together. I am a teacher, and whenever it is a school holiday, we like to live our dream by travelling and exploring nature.
It all started when I was little. My dad was a photographer and videographer, so I grew up in front of the camera. And so my love for photography has begun.
I was also always the one who would write down our holidays on a calendar and count the days until we would leave.
But it was only till I went on my very first international trip to Mauritius that the travel bug really hit me. And since then, we would travel whenever we got the chance.
And that’s why I’ve decided to start this blog. To share all my tips and tricks and also my love for travel and photography.
So here are some facts about me:
My favourite...
My all time favourite destination
International
Up to this day, my all-time favourite travel destination is Mauritius. Maybe it is because this was my first overseas trip, but the relaxing atmosphere with the turquoise water and white sand definitely contributed to the fact.
Local (South Africa)
There is a reason why Cape Town is the most visited province by international tourists, and every time I visit Cape Town, I fall in love all over again. The rugged shoreline is surrounded by mountainous backdrops; I am always amazed when I visit. And even though I’ve visited Cape Town multiple times before, there is still so much more that I need to explore. The opportunities are endless.
So Cape Town will always have a soft spot in my heart.
My bucket list
Although my dream is to travel the world, these are my top 5 destinations:
Iceland is right at the top of my bucket list. I believe that Iceland has one of the most beautiful nature scenes in the world, and chasing the waterfalls here is right at the top of my list.
The Maldives has been a dream of mine since I was a child. The houses and resorts located on the water look like the best tropical destinations. So when I do visit the Maldives, I’ll definitely opt for the water villas.
Norway… Chasing the northern lights and staying in a glass igloo—what could be better than that, right? I’m also in love with the architect of Norway.
Switzerland during winter time, although I’ve also seen photos during the summertime, and that also looks amazing. Although I’ve never gone skiing before, this is an activity I would love to tick off my list, and Switzerland is the best place to do this.
My fifth choice is New Zealand; however, this I think should be done with a camper van. I’ve never done van life before, but I think this country is the perfect place for this. Especially the South Island.
So… with that being said, I hope to inspire you to take those trips and live your best life.
Thank you for following along with my journey!
